Hosting and managed service provider

The client

A Hampshire-based provider of managed IT, cloud and data centre services (e.g. private and public cloud, managed IT, co-location and backup services) working with organisations within finance, energy, education, technology, and more.

The company specialises in tiered, flexible and cost-effective services which best suit their clients’ computing requirements, and provides tightly-managed and secure data centre environments and an agreed, consistent, scalable service.

The challenge

When the client first came to Datum, their diverse IT infrastructure was located on premise across a number of locations. To support their proposition, they required a well-located data centre that was capable of supporting strategic growth plans and meeting the high efficiency standards they set as part of their stated objective to minimise the environmental impact of IT services.

What happened?

The client selected Datum’s Farnborough data centre in order to benefit from the highly secure campus, which provides them with government-grade security levels, and the fully 2N power and highly resilient infrastructure. Datum’s 100% uptime SLA allows the client to offer a non-stop service as part of its portfolio.

Since joining Datum in 2013, the client has increased its breadth of services to accommodate a growing customer base and helping to support the growth they have experienced.

Datum colocation

Since installing their kit into the data centre, Datum and the client have developed a mutually beneficial partnership as well a healthy data centre/client relationship. As part of the Datum Connect ecosystem of providers, the client has successfully supported a number of other Datum clients with managed co-location and connectivity to cloud.

Of particular note

Datum delivers service-enhanced colocation from its highly engineered secure FRN1 data centre within the ListX Cody Technology Park in Farnborough. The connection-rich facility is carrier and cloud neutral with latency to the City of London of less than one millisecond.

In the client’s own words:

Datum stands out in the data centre market, sharing our ethos for exceptional client service, coupled with an enhanced set of data centre solutions that supports highly flexible and scalable proactive service delivery, monitoring, reporting and account management.

We are committed to growing our footprint in Datum due to our clients recognising the superior levels of service and connectivity that we can offer from Datum Farnborough. Our multi-platform, hybrid cloud has been gaining traction for companies focused on looking to shift workloads to more flexible or powerful platforms. We have seen an increase in demand for managed co-location and partnering with Datum has allowed us to offer a resilient environment with ultra-secure levels of security.
