First and most importantly, Datum is both a cloud and carrier-neutral data centre. You choose your Point of Presence (POP) and you choose your bandwidth supplier. We do not bundle rack space with a specific comms supplier. Instead, we encourage an internal communications marketplace, with telecoms companies vying to provide the best service for the largest number of customers.
The growth of Farnborough as a data centre cluster has further encouraged multiple providers to build out their network throughout the area, enabling Datum clients to benefit from a ready set of connectivity options. With multiple-fibre providers and a latency to Slough and the City of London of less than 1 millisecond, we are well placed to help clients find the right connectivity package.
Datum connectivity services are available to connect between your sites, to other data centres, to the internet and to public and private clouds.
As a Datum client, you will receive a regular report detailing all of the available networks that we provide, and listing services, pricing, availability, and more. There are no third parties or resellers involved; your contracts and SLAs are direct with the provider.
Flexibility and choice
Because we differentiate between rack provision and comms provision, you’re free to change between suppliers. You may even wish to maintain agreements with several suppliers for the purposes of redundancy.
The connectivity providers present in our data centres will provide the usual range of connectivity from basic internet bandwidth through to Tier 1 network provision. We also provide fast redundant WAN links to other connectivity hubs.
